What makes you happy?
I know it’s a loaded question, but maybe sit with it for just a moment or two.
What makes you excited to get out of bed in the morning? Who or what brings you joy even in your darkest times?
A lot of people may know exactly what that one things is, and many may not. For some it may be the same thing and for others it may differ from day to day, week to week, year to year.
The question of happiness and who or what brings it to us is one I think about often. We’re only given so much time in life to truly enjoy what it brings, and it’s my belief that we should spend that precious time doing what makes us most happy.
A great thought, right?
Well, with work and family and bills and student loans and a host of other societal obligations, before we know it what makes us happy has taken a backseat to our life and the two aren’t able to co-exisit with each other. Life moves froward and that one passion or that one dream either waits patiently on the sidelines or is forgotten altogether.
Sound familiar? Well, if you’re a modern human, the answer is most likely yes.
While I’m far from suggesting that everyone is walking around unhappy or unsatisfied, many of us have that one thing we’d rather be doing than sitting behind a desk or paying another bill. So what is it? I’ll let you think on it…
Is it art? Photography? Yoga? Writing? Being in nature? Whatever it maybe, grab your deck and utilize the Tarot to help you gain some clarity to help bring it to the forefront of your life.
Shuffle your deck and then draw three cards as follows:
- What is the biggest obstacle I face in understanding what makes me happy? Shedding light on what may be holding you back or causing some blocks will be a great jumping off point for your happiness journey.
- Where in my life can I make room for what makes me happiest? With the busyness we encounter in our day-to-day lives, this card will help you understand where some time can be carved out each to day to focus on your happiness.
- How is my happiness best expressed? This card will show you productive, tangible ways to bring what you’re passionate about into the world. Even with limited time or resources, theres always a few moments to use, to see where and how they could manifest in your day-to-day.
What did you find? Did anything surprise you? Was anything reaffirmed?
Happiness is often called the journey of life, not the destination. Don’t believe that you have to do X, Y, and Z to be truly happy; what you need you already have. However, but using the Tarot to become a little more clear and aware of your happiness, you’ll be able to live more fully in its presence and appreciate what it can bring you.
