Among other things, I’ve spent the better part of this past week trying to decide what to make this blog post about. Do I address the election? Do I talk about hope and optimism in the face of fear? Should it just be about Tarot and give you a tip or two on connecting with your cards?
To be honest, I still don’t know. I feel it’s better to be honest with you and say I’m not sure what to write. Or think. Or say. Or do. Do any of us?
One thing I do know is that a lot of us are feeling a lot of different things. Some are mad, some are scared, some are hopeful, some are sad, some are happy, and some are a combination of all of the above. I can’t and won’t dictate how I think you should feel because that’s for you to decide, and when I don’t even know my own feelings it’s hypocritical and unproductive for me to preach anything to anyone.
What I can suggest is this: feel. Feel something. Feel mad, and sad, and angry, and hurt, and happy, and overwhelmed. Don’t deny your feelings. They’re there to remind you of your humility and to help you recognize that you’re a part of this big, wide planet even if you feel small and disconnected.
Feel your feelings for however long it takes, and then take action. Take positive action.
Volunteer for human rights campaigns. Call and write to your local government branches. Donate money to organizations that may need help going forward. Talk to family and friends with opposing views and listen to one another so that you can understand each other. You don’t have to agree, but working to understand will help bridge a gap that’s already growing too quickly.
If you’re feeling stuck, shuffle your cards and ask “How can I be of service?” What does the card suggest? What are some actionable steps you can take now, or tomorrow, or this week? Ask this questions every day this month and see what positive changes you can help make in the world around you.
There’s a lot of uncertainty right now, but one thing that is certain is that kindness and love and compassion will only ever help; do what you can to make sure they help as many people as possible.
So much love,
